Olene Isabel Dennis

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Olene, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Stratford General Hospital on Friday, January 10th in her 89th year.

Loving and devoted wife to Murray. True partners, Murray and Olene thoroughly enjoyed cash crop farming, camping and travelling the world and the road of life together for 68 years.

Doting mother to Steven Dennis & Judy Simpson, Peggy & John Wakabayashi, Laura Forbes and Elaine Grosvenor.

Proud grandmother to Natalie Wakabayashi, Adrienne Wakabayashi, Danny & Lori-Anne Forbes, Adam Forbes, Kevin Grosvenor and Rachel Grosvenor.

Loving GG to her great granddaughters Elsie and Leena Forbes.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters Audrey (late Lloyd) Beuermann and Merle (late James) Burns and her sister-in-law Marion (late Lavern) Godkin. Predeceased by her brother Mervin (late June) Godkin and her sister Lois (late Glenn) Sinclair. Beloved Aunt Olene to many nieces and nephews.

Olene was known for her beautiful flower gardens as well as her abundant vegetable garden which filled her larder with numerous pickles and preserves. Many relatives and friends were lucky to enjoy her tasty cooking and baking as she was always willing to host them for supper. For decades, Olene was an active member of her local United Church Women and enjoyed the warmth of her many friends within the community.

Visitation will take place at Riverside Funeral Home Brussels Chapel on Tuesday, January 14th from 6-8 pm and Wednesday, January 15th from 10-11 am with funeral service to follow.

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, donations to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or Winthrop United Church would be appreciated.
