Marilyn McDonald

February 3, 1934 — March 14, 2025

Clinton

Marilyn McDonald (Newman) passed away with family around her at Huronview Home for the Aged in Clinton on Friday. March 14th in her 92nd year. She was the beloved wife of the late Don McDonald who predeceased her on April 28th, 1998 just after celebrating 45 years of marriage. They farmed together north of Walton for many years and were very involved in the community.

Marilyn was a proud mom to Bruce McDonald & Linda Yenssen, Heather & Ron Clarke, Cathy & Paul Flaxbard, Pat & Michael Parr, Jim & Linda McDonald and Jeanne & Rob Dionne. She was deeply loved by her 16 grandchildren Fiona McDonald (Rob Guerra), Jamie Clarke, Jackie Clarke and Krysta Clarke, Megan (Patrick) Rusnak, Kevin (Alex) Flaxbard, Shawn Flaxbard (Chris Byrne), Ryan (Katie) Bremner, Andrea (Mike) Frias, Jeff (Diane) Parr, Tom (Meredith) Parr, Sarah (Barry) Young, Andrew (Amber Westin) McDonald, Tim Dionne and Katie Dionne (Patrick) Tingey and 17 great-grandchildren Alex McDonald, Emery, Easton & Elgin Glavin, Shaye Rusnak, Dawson Galway, Oliver Byrne, Lyra & Wil Bremner, Oscar, Malcolm & Evy Frias, John Parr, Dallas & Karter Young, Mason Harris and Desmond Tingey.

Loving sister to Barb Tervit, Doug Newman, Bill & Fran Newman.

Predeceased by grandson Stephen Parr, siblings and in-laws Don & Betty Mae Newman, George Tervit, Jeanie Newman, Betty Jane & John Gill, Rick Newman, Ken & Leona McDonald, Mary & Murray Huether.

Marilyn loved her family and friends. She loved going dancing with Don and the rest of the Walton gang at Family Paradise and other social events in the community and in later years with friends in the Grand Bend area. She was a wonderful cook and baker and her pies graced many Turkey Supper tables at the Walton United Church, where she was involved as Treasurer for many years and with the U.C.W. She loved being outside, gardening, or just enjoying sitting in the sun getting a little tan or in the shade enjoying some social time. She was dedicated to her family, raised 6 busy children, enjoyed being part of a large and noisy family, and extended her family lines to include many of the compassionate caregivers in Maplewood and Huronview who took such excellent care of her these last 6 years. She will be sorely missed.

A private family service will take place, with spring interment. An open Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations to Alzheimer Society Huron Perth or the Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
