Louella Irene (Stevenson) Raynard passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged on Friday, September 21st, 2012. Born in Elliotts, Prince Edward Island on October 14th, 1921, Louella was in her 91st year.
Luella lived in Pleasant Valley, PEI with her father Andrew and mother Sadie Stevenson and seven other siblings. She stayed in school till the age of 14 and left to begin work in domestic services in Charlottetown at age 14. She worked for many years for a Mr. and Mrs. Johnston. Her girlfriend Irene, who resided in Nova Scotia, had a penpal in Ontario. In 1949 she came to visit Cecil, and Lou was invited to come along. Cecil and Lou must have hit it off, because they were married on Nov 12, 1951 when Lou came to Ontario.
They farmed on the Pearson place for many years, before moving to the Bowes farm outside of Ethel where Lou worked constantly. Three girls later, Linda, Shirley and finally Irene, were all in school. She learned to drive and found a job at Campbell Soup in Listowel, from where she retired.
Lou enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, canning, playing cards, gameshows, writing to her family down East and Sewing flannelette blankets. She was always ready to take the 5 grandkids overnight!
In 2002 Cecil and Lou moved to the Kerr Apartments in Brussels. A few years later they moved to Huronlea where she enjoyed her stay very much.
