Leo Hector MacNeil of Brussels, and formerly of Brechin and Cape Breton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family at Seaforth Community Hospital on Monday, June 26th, 2017. Born in St. Margaret's Village, Cape Breton on February 8th, 1927, Leo was in his 91st year.
Leo was the beloved husband of the late Mary MacKinnon and the late Gertrude "Trudy" Crack (April 25th, 1995). Dear father of Kevin and Sandy MacNeil of Brechin, Kathy and Paul Nichol of Brussels, and J. D. and Martha MacNeil of Guelph. Loving grandfather of Jeremy, Kristin, Katie, Stuart, Ethan, Seth, Connor, and Duncan and great grandfather of Logan, Dylan, Chloe, Abel, and Lilyana. Also loved by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his siblings Elizabeth and Joe MacNeil, Jim and Rita MacNeil, George and Refina MacNeil, Dan and Lillian MacNeil and Anne and Howard Coones.
Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday and followed by the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 PM from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home and again from 10 to 10:45 AM Thursday, June 29 from St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM. Reception to follow in the church hall.
The interment will take place on Friday, June 30th at 2:00 PM at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brechin.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Huron County, the Brussels Fire Department or the local charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
