Jean was born and raised in Morris Township. She met Cal in Brussels and when she decided to move to Waterloo for work, he followed her. They spent over 30 years in Waterloo finally deciding to move back to Brussels for their retirement. Jean didn’t retire though and went on to work at the Brussels Sales Barn for many years. When Cal passed away Jean threw herself into her community, volunteering at the church, becoming a lions club member, helping at the legion, and spending her Thursday afternoons at the 5 R’s thrift store. Jean was the Citizen of the year in 2016 and became a huge part of the Brussels Community. She loved to help others and lived up to her name ‘Aunt Jean’. She was the rock that her family depended on and the glue that keep everyone together. Jean was feisty and loved to joke around. She loved to bake and was known for her cookies, butter tarts, rum balls, peanut butter cups and the list goes on. Although she was known as Aunt Jean she was a mother to all that needed her. She will be missed by everyone.
