Howard Fischer Neable of Gorrie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, December 26th, 2006 at the age of 88.
Beloved husband of Winnifred (Douglas) Neable. Dear father of Beverley of Truro, Nova Scotia and Ruth of Mount Forest.
Howard will be sadly missed by his grandsons James of Stoney Creek and Caleb of St. Catherines, brother Walter and his wife Hilda of Listowel, and their children Karen Curry and husband Bruce, Dr. Barry Neable and wife Sandra, and Dr. Bruce Neable and wife Bettina, his sister-in-law Jackie Douglas and her children Susan Brown and husband Jeff, Ellen Wilkinson and husband Steve, Mallory Douglas and husband Bob and Craig Douglas and wife Cathy. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Jim Douglas of Sandusky, Ohio.
Howard was born on March 25th, 1918 at home in Wallace Township to Conrad and Epiphenie (Fischer) Neable. He attended SS#10 Howick and Wallace School and then Listowel High School. On September 10th, 1947 he married Winnifred Douglas in Embro, Ontario. Howard had a varied career as a clergyman, teacher and principle and businessman. He had a farm equipment business in Gorrie for over 4o years.
Friends were received by the family from 12:30 PM until the time of the service on
Thursday, December 28th at 2:00 PM at the Gorrie Visitation Centre of the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Topping officiating. As a tribute to his uncle, violin solos of In the Graden and The Old Rugged Cross were performed by Dr. Barry Neable. Rembrances of Howard were given by Cherub Kowtecky and Dr. Bruce Neable and a solo of Precious Lord, Take My Hand was performed by Gloria Topping.
Pallbearers were John McKnight, Dr. Barry Neable, Dr, Bruce Neable, William Doig, Norman Watson, Caleb Stewart and honourary pallbearer James Courtney.
Spring interment in Wroxeter Cemetery.
